cheaper than dirt stuff is hit and miss. some is good heavy duty double stitched equipment and other stuff is crappy airsoft stuff.
stick with the black hawk strike gear or a us mil spec molle vest and get the pouches separate. you go up from there of both price point and quality. |

Some of my friends from the sheriff's dept I used to work for keep asking me to sell them (or give them, the cheap bastards) my tac vest and duty gear now that I'm no longer an LEO. I won't sell any of it even though I don't truly have a need for anymore.
I guess I'm a mall ninja now too.

If you heard half of what happened in this city, you'd be snatchin up every piece of "tactical" gear you could get. Before the storm I never even thought of a EOTWAWKI scenario. Now I have a zombie attack/SHTF plan. And a nice vest that will keep the .223, .762, and .45 mags folowing is part of it. |

It's all about your Zombie Plan.
By the way, I got the vest in today. the .45 fits in the holster like it was made for it. Everything else about the vest is phenominal. Everything is adjustable, and it's very comfortable.

OK here is my over all issue with this type of equipment - It will fail you when you need it most! When you just want something to look Tacti-cool at the range or when out with your buddies plinking, sure, go for it. It isn't money I would want to waste... again
If you're thinking this is going to be useful during a SHTF situation, I really think you're just fooling yourself. Take an afternoon, just load it up with what you think belongs on/in it and just wear it around the house. Come back and tell us how much you like it and trust it after that. Now take it to the shooting site of your choosing... go prone.. that'll teach you a thing or two as well. Screw it, just try getting in and out of your car with it on while it's "packed". I'm not looking to crap on anyone's gear choices, but I hate to see people throw money away on gear that really isn't going to do them any service worth a damn. What do I know you maybe asking yourself. Well, I've been shot at by people who really didn't like me and my buddies from Uncle Sam. I've humped a ton more "issue" gear than I knew I would ever really need, for a lot further than I ever want to do again. What do I have stashed now? Well, some of that ain't nobody's business but my own. What I will say is that I buy 2 of everything.. that's an experience thing. I'll also say that I do own some of the high speed, low drag gear that I know works. I train with that gear on when I go up to the hills to practice. Some of that includes: Level 1: Tactical Tailor MOLLE padded belt Tactical Tailor 3 pistol mag pouch (Single and double stack mags fit wonderfully) Tactical Tailor SM dropleg panel Tactical Tailor Universal MOLLE holster Eagle Med. Admin pouch - BOK and sundry other medical stuff Eagle 2 mag pouch for my Gerber and Surefire Level 2: HSGI Woosach Eagle vertical Admin pouch - same as first line TT universal MOLLE holster TT 3 mag pouch Eagle 2 mag pouch MOLLE hydro pouch Then I have 4 packs.. 2 small for the cars and 2 larger ones (Camelback BFM and LG ALICE ruck) one for winter one for summer. All have added first aid, clothing and food stuff.. oh yeah and ammo. Loaded out I'll be carrying a ton of stuff. I make sure that at least 1 time a year I take a 3 day trip into the Rockies with either the summer or winter loads to make sure I'm not being captain dumbarse with my packing choices. Am I a gear whore/snob .. damn skippy. Have I spent several hundred hours researching and testing my loads and gear.. damn skippy. Things like what happen down on the Gulf Coast after Big K made me think damn long and hard about my gear and needs. I am constantly researching and re-assessing my choice of equipment. Spend your money wisely.. if all you can afford is a vest like what is being discussed.. man, you'd be far better off getting a fairly inexpensive LBE/LCE setup. I still have a LBE rig that I would feel just as comfortable grabbing as my Woo. I keep that right for who ever might needed if the time comes. My point here is simple guys, don't buy stuff that isn't going to do what you want it to and fail you when you really need it. Test your load outs, make sure you're not over loading yourself and make sure that the gear you have is functional! /end RANT

Badshot, thanks for your input. Points well taken. However, I still like the vest and am pleased with it's quality. It may not be the best choice, but for what I can afford and need if for, it'll do. It'll hold my pistol and shells/ammo when I hunt and alot of AR mags when I'm out camping/plinking. As far as SHTF situations, well, it'll be better than nothing I think.
