Heine Straight Eight Slant Pro
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience using the Heine Straight Eight Slant Pro sights with the tritium inserts? I have been looking around at various sight systems to enhance my XD-45 and these appeal to me but I have not had any experience with them. I would love to hear your experience good or bad. Thanks,

I've got them on the XD-45 Tactical and they are great. Just like their website says, it is truly easier to get on target fast with 2 vertical dots vs. 3 horizontal. I believe the front sight insert might be a little larger too which makes you automatically focus on the front sight. My LEO buddies really liked them as well....they are a good choice.

These are the night sights I prefer. They seem much faster to acquire in both daytime (due to the somewhat slimmer front sight that does not fill the notch in the rear sight) and the 2 dot configuration of the tritium lamps (quicker to line up dot-to-dot than to try to center one dot between two). Being a recovering Glockaholic, I have them on at least half of my Glocks, and on every Glock I've actually carried. Soon I hope to have them on my new XD 45 Compact.

Shot some on a SIG 6 months ago. I found they didn't give me as quick a target aquisition as my TFO setup. I find the three dot system better to get a more precise horizontal and vertical alignment, especially during night-fire. I found myself spending too much time pondering vertical alignment precision with the two dot system (Even worse for the dot/vertical bar system on the XS Big Dots). I'm glad to hear they're working for you guys becuase I really like the concept a lot and was bumed when they didn't work for me (especially the XS's, since I bought a pair!). I tended to string shots vertically past 15 yards in low light, which is no good.

Heinie Sights
I have Heinie sights on my XD-9sc. I have not shot then at night only in the day time hours. I was surprised that the sights were quick to aim in the day time. I have used this pistol in IDPA stages several times a month for the last year. If the sun is behind me I can see the small white dots. Most of the time the sun is overhead or off to one side. The front sight does not fill the notch of the back sight. It is fast to bring on target. At seven to ten yards these sights are accurate enough to in the main target area. At night in the dark they are bright and do not confuse me as to front or back sight. I always shoot at an outdoor range that closes before sundown. Therefore I have not had a chance to shoot at night. I like these sights well enough that I plan to a pair on my service XD-9. I think they are simple effective sights, that work in daylight and don't doubt they will work at night. This is my carry gun.

I plan to get some when I can afford it. I like the idea, thanks for the thread.
