Question Another question about holster types

Sorry one more thing -- what exactly is the difference between a paddle and pancake holster, if there is one? And are all OWB holsters paddle hoslters, or are paddle holsters strictly ones that give you the degree of cant option?

I am not sure about the pancaked vs. paddle question. My first thought would be that a "pancake holster" just holds the gun closer to your side. Not all Outside the waistband holsters are paddle holsters. You can get holsters that have loops for a belt to slide through. A paddle holster is one that has a large flat "paddle" on the body side of the holster. You simply slide the paddle inside your pants and the holster portion sits outside. Someone correct me if I mess that up.

Pancake holsters are made of two thin pieces of leather stitched together so that they offer a flatter profile that gives them their name and are worn OWB with the belt threaded through holes cut into the leather.

Paddle holsters have a plastic or leather paddle that fits inside your pants to hold the holster on, the holster itself sits outside the pants the way a normal belt holster would.

The paddle type tends to be a bit harder to conceal than a regular OWB that has belt loops.

There are several types of OWB holsters- the pancake, the scabbard type (one piece folded over and having a belt loop on the back and possibly one at the trailing edge of the holster, and the paddle holster.

Hope that helps.
