Hard Slide Release??
Just got a new XD-40. Haven't made it to the range yet, but while getting the feel of it I noticed a hard slide release. I'm no 'wimp', it is tough to push. This could really mess with you during a fast mag change.
Is there a fix or will it get better with use?

I have had several handguns in the past and my XD was the first that I had the "oh dear god" reaction when I got it home. I called in the wife and she had the same reaction. But after a few times to the range it is not even noticeable any more. No worries, all is well.

yeah it's just a new thing when i got my service model it was the same way, and the sc i just bought is like that now. but over time the service model has broke in and is totally smooth in every aspect. the trigger has become great after many rds and is now quite perfect i love it. i suggest that you shoot the crap out of it, and before you know it, it'll be better than you expected!

When I got my first new XD I loaded the mags to capacity and left the slide locked back for the first week. Seemed to help tremendously and cut down on the break-in period.
