TruGlo TFO's

I was in my local gun shop looking at sights. I told the guy that I was looking at getting the TFO's. He immediatly said I shouldn't cause they are easily broken. He was saying that he has broken several front sights trying to put them on. He has been in the business for a while so I don't doubt his abilities. Just curious if anyone has had problems like this?

Buy the TFOs and send the sights and your slide to Canyon Creek or ajames (XD-HS2000.com) to have them put on. Quality work done by guys who know how to work with the XD.

ANY Fiber Optic sight is more fragile than a non FO sight. You've got a glass fiber there that can break. It's the nature of the beast.

However, they're well shrouded on the TFO's and it's unlikely you'll break them unless you do something stupid like shoot thru a opening where the recoil will smack the sights against the top of the opening. I haven't done that, but I've seen it done.

I've done that withTrijicons, didn't really break them, but it did mess them up a bit. Trijicon fixed them for free.

Yea, send it off to Canyon Creek or James. They get plenty of practice and definitely know what they are doing.

canyon creek

I have been looking and can't seem to find a list of sponsors or canyon creeks web site. Which place is James? Thanks for the replies. I love all the help from this site. Hopefully I can offer some help in return sometime.

Ya, broke mine installing em!

The TFO's I received required significant removal of metal from the sights to get them to fit on the XD. I didn't take
enough off, which resulted in me tapping em too hard, breaking the tritium vial (rear sight). Luckily, the MFG took them back and swapped them out for free in about 2 weeks. They were going to swap just the vial, but ended up sending me an entirely new sight. The new one fit almost too loose, but with a little locktite they're working fine. I don't know if the MFG has tightened tolerances for the XD yet or not. The ones I just installed on my Glock-19 fit perfectly.

In retrospect, given the delay, the stress, and the potential loss on my TFO install, I'll be sending my incoming XD45-Compact to one of our commercial sponsors. Might have them work the trigger too!
