Not sure if this is the right place for this or not but here goes.
Ok, so I’ve been looking via search for about 4 hours now and cannot find an answer to my question, or at least a direct answer, so I will ask it here. Has anyone had any experience with the Secure-It Handgun Storage Safe? http://aacfi.com/products/secureit.shtml The reason I ask is when I receive my CCW from the state in the next few weeks, I will be caring, and the main reason I will be carrying is the environment around where I work, the only thing is I am not allowed to carry at work, and there is no possible way for me to conceal wile I am there, due to the requirements of my job. And I am looking for something that will fit the confines of my vehicle, a truck, which doesn’t have a trunk or lockable storage space. These are reasonable and will fit in the limited area I have, and wile are not as secure as a bolted in piece, I am not sure where I could bolt one in at. Any input will be appreciated. Oh ya I forgot to mention that I work a bout an hour and a half form home and get off at between 11pm and 6am, usually around 3:30 to 4:30am when all the crazies are out. |

I've heard a couple cases now where the cable swedge was not crimped tight enough and slipped off the end of the cable letting the box come free. Be sure to check them often.

that safe has a single sided key. I have a travel safe i got off of ebay that i use on a daily basis. the cable slips around the locking mechanism(sp?) for no chance of slipping and its a double sided key. its a little bit more secure than that one from what i can see at 1st glance.
here is a link to what i got. the mediem should fit the service models fine. But i dont own service so if your not comfortable just get the large one. I have a xd9sc with 16 round magazine. It fits just perfect. ill hunt up some pics of the setup that are on the board somewhere in a min. medium large edit: here is the link to an old post that shows what i can fit in mine. Im thinking the service might be able to fit if you flip the gun over so the barrel is facing the end that the grip is on. if not the lock wont clear the grip like it does facing the sub compact like i am. I bought a medium size safe for my 40sc. I love it. It fits under the my Explorer seat with no problem for those times I can't carry inside a business. I'm going to buy a large safe for home. I would highly recommend them.

I'd personally buy them from Center-of-Mass
http://www.center-of-mass.com/
They're great to deal with, good customer service, and attentive. You can also buy pairs keyed alike. (I bought just one and now need another ... go with the pair from the start ... one for each car ) |

They will keep a simple smash and grab from getting your gun. Not super secure though.

Thank you for the link to the center of mass brand, I like it a lot better, it appears to be more secure, and the web sight is more informative. As was said, I just need to stop a smash and grab, I figure the stereo equipment will distract them especially since it is easer to grab, and the lock box will be hidden better than the stereo. It’s also good to know about the medium fitting in a GSXR trunk, it probably won’t fit the trunk of the Busa though, but I will give it a try.
Thanks again for the Informative replies. |
