Pachmayr slip on grips

Today I bought a Pachmayr slip on grip #2 for my XD9 Tactical and I just have to say that if you haven't tried these you should. Up until today I had skateboard tape cut into panels for my grip, and while it was effective, it was pretty unpleasant to hold. With the rubber grip on there it is like a whole new gun. My friend let me shoot his CZ recently with Pachmayrs on it and I was immediately sold on it. To me, that is what a gun should feel like, part of your hand, not something you can't wait to put down. I had to do some trimming, obviously, for the grip safety, but that was easily done. Anyway, just felt the need to share my happy news.

Redstarevolution,
Sounds like a good option. I haven't seen the Pachmayr slip on grips. Can you post a picture? I have the Hogue Handall slip on grip on my XD-45. Here is a few pics.

Cheers!
Ted

I ordered one, same one you have, and honestly I don't like it... It's not terrible, but I just like the natural grip of the gun, I may put some griptape on the side panels, but other than that I like the grip of the gun...

Edit: Mines a 9, don't know if the size of the grip would be a difference, but I don't like my 9 with it on... Actually if someone wants a pachmayr grip for theyre xd send me a PM and I'll send it to ya...

Hey Ted,

That looks great, but did you have to cut it? It looks like it was made that way.

I use one on my Kahr PM40 only because it has a single finger groove. Help get some leverage on the little tiny pistol. I use grip tape for everything else. 3M Safety walk is the bomb digity!!

I finally took a photo of my XD9 with the Pachmayr grip. It is similar to the Hogue, but appears to be longer and has stippling all over. Like I say, I had to cut a groove out for the trigger safety.

I use the green Hogue hand-all on my XD-9 with the OD frame. The green hand-all is probably a much closer fit to the Dark Earth frame than the OD green one. I found that even with the notch cut out, it would sometimes catch the grip safety and keep it depressed, so I chopped off the top to clear the safety. It also promotes a high and tight grip on the gun.

Pictured with my Springfield GI 1911 since this is the only shot I have of the XD with grip.
