Hearing Protection Recommendations?

I'm assuming my old hearing protection (hard shell ear muffs w/foam + dynamic impulse ear plugs) will have to be replaced when we get back to TX.

What do you recommend?

I sure want to protect my hearing. I left the service (decades ago) with a notable high-frequency hearing loss in my left ear. At age 59 it's becoming an annoyance / quality of life issue, so I don't want to jeopardize this sense any more.

I'd recommend mine to you...but apparently they didn't put their name anywhere on their product, so I have no clue what kind these are.

They're just the cheapest set of amplified ear muffs I could find...$24 bucks and they work great. The mic actually picks up sounds I couldn't hear normally like someone whispering in the distance and so on.

I use the Silencio that you can get from WalMart for about $25. They work fine for me even in the indoor range. You can always double them up with the orange/yellow soft in the ear types for more protection.

I use Silencio when shooting indoors and have a set of ZEMS for outdoor steel shooting. I use ear plugs with the Silencio muffs = 36 NRR

Hiow much do ya want to spend?
Do you want Electronic?

My vote would be for what I use;
ProEars Dimension2 for Electronic and the Zem's for non.

Thumbs up

I recommend the Silencio Falcon e-muffs. They work like a charm, are less expensive than Peltors, and are pretty comfortable.

I use the Peltor 6 and do NOt reccomend them, the left one shut off and won't turn back on until you recycle the power switch. this only happens after a gun shot. I called , email, and sent a letter with no response from them.

I am currently looking at highend types....Lesson here, you get what you paid for....Never again.

ZEMS. I know many who switched from electronics to ZEMS and they are much happier.

I just got the Zems too. They are light, fold up for storage, and work great. The way they worked seemed strange to me at first, but were perfect when I used them. Reasonable price as well. www.pistolgear.com
