I would like to see an interview with anyone who was ever in a gun fight, like a cop or civilian, where they asked the person, "Did you use your sights?" or "Do you remember seeing your sights?"

It is my guess, when the adrenaline kicks in and you are in survival mode, your sights are a mere reference point/blurr and for this reason, the front sight is the most important. I would go as far to say that if you were in a gunfight within 10 yards (where most do happen), you can remove your rear sight, maybe even front and rear, and your hits would be the same.

I think the Big Dot sights are a good option for CC. I also like the Ghost Ring setup and the TFOs because they are so bright. Leibster's option is just that, another option centered around some good ideas.

Sights what sights?

Check this out....

I bought the Fist Fire book. The book looks kinda cheeze but has some great content in it. Good photos and straight forward instruction on how to get started. Next time I'm at the range I'm going to give it a try. I've been doing some dry fire and draws getting ready to hit the range.

How much fater than the stock sights are they?

I can draw and shoot 6 A zone shots on a 3-5 meter target in 1.7-1.9 seconds all day long with stock sights. Are you saying I could do it faster with a Big Dot?

I know I only have a couple hundred thousand rounds downrange, but I don't think that sight is going to make me faster. Why? Because I've shot it. To me, it is the same as shooting with the rear sight removed or filed down, which is perfectly fine for close distances.

Don't get me wrong the Big Dot is fine for close up shooting, but to say it is faster doesn't make sense when the limiting factor for close quarters engagement is physical dexterity not sight aquisition. I think it has many limits when their are products out there that have less, so I chimed in.

Fist Fire is all about "index." It is not a trick, because with a proper grip you can shot fairly acurately at fairly close distances just looking over the top of the gun.

Since the eyes can see faster than you can shoot, it doesn't make much sense to me to not use your sights, if you have them

I believe that. I know a SWAT Instructor that teaches shooting without sights. He removes them. He just sights down the slide. His belief is that sights are nearly useless in combat shooting. Your fine motor skills go out the window and your gross motor skills aren't that far behind.

Is the perp on page two of the Sure Sight webpage brandishing a scimitar? Silly bad guys and their long, curvy blades...

Anyway, GL on the idea. I hope you make millions.

I don't need to shoot faster I just need to see the sights better. The eyes just keep getting worse the older I get. Not that I am ancient but I am probably not as old as some but older than most on this forum.

I also am thinking about the XS sights. You know BIGGER IS BETTER FOR ME!

You guys are right. The manufacturers are trying to help their aging customer base by offering brighter and bigger sights. Although they are not great for precision shooting, they are just fine for personal protection. If anything, they give the shooter confidence, which is 80% of the game.

Old School, sounds like these might be just the ticket for my Old Eyes. Stock them and they shall come.
