question on mounted lights...

I have been considering getting one, but I do NOT want something I have to fumble around near the muzzle to turn it on/off. Do any of these compact lights like the X2/X2L have a way to run a pressure pad switch? I would not want to announce my presence coming down a hallway by having it on too early, and if I were discovered, I would want to be able to shut it off instantly as well. I have no problem w/ setting a mode on the physical light such as laser/light/both, but I don't want to reach up there to turn it on when I need it.

The M series offers a lever on each side of the front of the triggerguard that is momentary in one direction and alternate action in the other. Best advice is check one out in person. Unless you plan on mounting it and leaving it there, I wouldn't go with the pressure switch. My light goes on my XD every night and comes off again every morning.

ditto, your hand never comes close to the muzzle end when operating the light

Tony,

The X2L is a great little light that I believe is perfect for personal defense. The light illuminates the area, the laser allows you to shoot the gun from any position WITHOUT having to worry about a sight picture. As an example, you can shoot from the hip and know where the bullet will go. Hell, you can even shoot around a corner is required to do so.

As for the controls for the X2L, there is a on and a momentary on. Both can be controlled by the thumb of your weak hand.

Easy to use, bright, affective. Both of my home defense guns have X2Ls on them.
