Anybody carry with a Barstow...

I have that wicked rear blade Bo-mar and it will just flatout open you up if you grab for it quickly and miss by a touch. I am new to trying to pull from a holster, so i am practicing at home some with my 45tac. That sight is wicked. I want to get in a little practice before I go for a training class for my bday, but damn! I guess I'll have the scars to prove I am trying to get better...

So does anyone actually carry with one of these on their XD?

edited to reflect the actual thing i wanted to talk about, not a Barstow, but a Bomar...sheesh

How are drawing the gun? How is your hand even getting close to the rear sight?

Hey WW I'd like to see that draw i just tried what you said and if I read you right the holster is in the middle of your back( 6 oclock ) with mag end facing left side if so I think I need a pain pill cause I pulled a muscle trying it. LOL But I'm gonna be in Vegas end of month my wife's there already for the entire month staying with her girlfriend as we are talking of retiring there next year we lived in Kingman AZ. in the middle 80's maybe we can get together and shoot a little. Back to the draw try moving holster to about 4 oclock and try again the Bo Mar's should not snag your hand.

Wink

Like they say, How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice…practice….practice…

Same with the holster. The more and more you use it the better you will become and your hand will go to it effortlessly.

About the beginning of the year I had a bad situation come up. I carry my Glock 31 in a Level III Safariland holster. Well I’m going up to a house with an irate subject who starts going for a rifle as I’m exiting my patrol car. I’m yelling at him not to do it at the time I’m thinking to myself, “Get your gun out dummy”. Before I finished I see something blocking my view and it’s my Glock. Honestly without thinking my subconscious or what ever you want to call it got my gun out.

Your mind will take over for you after you get use to the position of your weapon. Just keep practicing and you’ll get it. I remember wearing my thumb and finger raw drawing my gun from the level III holster but as you can see it paid off.

By the way the entire incident worked out good for all involved. Thank god and God Bless fellow partners.

Just depends on the model. If it is in the SOB it is an SOB. I am pretty sure the 6o on a human is the SOB. I still have yet to figure out how WW is getting his hand around there to do a grip left draw. Makes you wonder.
