Night sights that aim "straight"
Hi everyone. I'm about a few weeks from getting my first XD (Tactical in .45ACP) and have started looking at things I'd like to do to make it better...which for me isn't that much.
However, I have found that XD sights appear to be made for a 6 'o clock hold, or something like that...noticed that with two XDs that I had the opportunity to fire with (and I believe the XD manual says this as well). If I have to, then I will...but since I've shot often and have used a point of aim sight picture (top half of target "resting" on front sight blade), I would like to try to keep it that way if all possible. I'm looking into the various low-light sights that use tritium and was wondering if any sights out there, when installed on an XD Tactical, would by design offer a sight picture that is point of aim vs the 6 hold? Of course, I'm also wanting to be sure the sights are fairly bright, and hold up very well. Just for the sake of not having to change anything from my previous weapons, I do prefer the three dot design as that is what I have on my current pistol and on my AR. I am open minded, though, and will appreciate any and all advice. Thanks a bunch. |

Dawson adjustables you can put them where you want. You can also but a taller front on the fixed tritiums to shoot lower.

Thanks...I didn't even consider adjustable sights. I was kind of looking at a couple, noticed that they're taller than fixed sights...so I've gotta find a tall front sight. I came across Ameriglo which said they had various sights in different heights. I haven't heard of them, are they good?
And I fired the XD at the outdoor range not too far from my home, which was at 25 yards. I did 15 yards as well and it was closer to point of aim, but still just a bit high. I wouldn't mind having my shots falling a bit below point of aim at closer ranges if I can get it to hit right where I'm aiming at 25 yards. BTW, is this whole bit just because of how the XD is designed, or are the stock sights of different heights so that it will hit in this manner? |
