I got one like Quixdraw from Caravans End.. $20.00. I had to modify it a bit by taking the top strap and sewed it so it goes over the top as I didn't like it over the grip, depressing the safety. Took 2 days to get here and I couldn't be happier. Its nice too because it easily converts from drop leg to belt holster in about 10 seconds. I find it sturdy, secure and it looks good too. For 1/3 the price of Blackhawk, I think its a great product.

i have one of those cheapie thigh holsters i purchased from cheaperthandirt.com. it's nice, although, my only gripe is that i got what i paid for. i ended up ordering a holster from blade-tech after i used that cheapie twice in the woods.

one thing to think about in a holster like that is the strap that goes around your thigh. the cheap ones just have the nylon webbing material so you might think about sewing in a patch of strechie-nylon to keep tention when you tighten it down around your leg.

just about everybody carries those types of holsters, http://www.cheaperthandirt.com
http://www.midwayusa.com
for example.

try blade-tech

Blade-tech has a drop leg holster for the XD. They have a version to carry the XD with an m-3 / m-6 light & a version without.

I bought this one...

http://www.aspitactical.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=71015

Its a well made holster, heavy stitching, treated with Teflon, has rinforced thumb break and a velcro strap to lock the thumb break if needed during strenuous activity. Great holster for the money!

I ended up going with the above one from cheaper than dirt. For the money I am pleased. It does hang a little bit low on my thigh even adjusted as high as possible but I think with a quick modification to the hanger I can get it to ride as high as I need. Thanks for all the great responses. I am looking foward to giving my XD-40 a try on a few groundhogs later this summer.

This http://www.aspitactical.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=71015 was recommended to me. Looks good and for the price I don't think it can be beat. Here are some better pictures: http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=18486.

Anyway, hope this helps. I'm thinking of picking this one up soon.

[EDIT] Ack, already been posted. Didn't read all the way through page 2 :/ Sorry for the repost.

I just ordered one of these along with their web belt (nice finding belts for us bigger guys at a good price)
I like the dual strap over the single strap. Keeps the gun from flopping around as much.
