Dremel Tool, Which one?!?
I'm looking into buying a Dremel for polishing/cleaning my guns.
I have a couple questions: Which model do you guys like, does it matter? I'm looking here: http://www.dremel.com/en-us/tools/to...y.htm?H=188091 Can the Dremel be used to polish the barrel to mirror as I see in some of the photos? Are there tools available to clean the firearm with the Dremel?

I have both a battery powered one (a gift from someone) and an AC powered, variable speed one. The battery powered one is pretty useless so stay away from those. I've never used a Dremel on my guns so I'm not qualified to answer the second part of your question. There are some posts around here though about how to polish the barrel.

I agree. Buy one with a cord because if you don't, it'll take you forever to finish what you start.
You could use a cloth polishing wheel on a lot of things. There are courser grades of cloth also that you can get. Start out with the roughest and finish with the softest.

Sears has their dremel tool in a kit on sale for $89. It looks exactly like the Dremel tool, because its the SAME tool. Two different guys at two separate Sears told me theirs was made buy Dremel.
The kit comes with many accessories, like the flexible extension. Its also variable speed.

Yeap. I'll be using my dremel to help install my new dentures in a few weeks.

Please tell me you were joking about cleaning your guns with a dremmel.
It is good for polishing and minor grinding, but the dremel is a gunsmith's best friend... It gives them lots of business. 400 Series XPR Rotary Tool -This is the model I preferr for FINE FINISH POLISHING ONLY. Files and stones for gunsmithing. |
