Any thoughts or suggestions? This is my 1st holster purchase and after seeing numerous posts about drawers full of holsters, i'd like to keep the price fairly low. The GCODE runs about $ 40 and the Comp-Tac $ 60.

I assume you're talking OWB here? I have the G-Code OWB that I use for USPSA matches (with my XD-45) and it works quite well. It is not very concealable however. I also have the CTAC for the XD which I use for concealed carry. It also works well although IMHO it is not as comfrotable as the nice leather IWB holsters I have from Milt Sparks.

It's a bit more expensive, but I got a Galco Trainer for mine. I wanted one that was leather, but still suitable for competition.

I've got a Blackhawk that has worked great for 2 years, about $25. Just don't buy the Serpa model. And most people don't change their competition holster that much, your holster (as long as it's a good Kydex) is a pretty insignificant part of the equation. When you start trying to carry concealed, you'll still end up with a drawer full of holsters.

I use a Safariland 560 for IDPA and for USPSA Single stack. The leather doesn't mar up your gun. and its fast.

I use the G-Code with no cant for my XD40. Shoot USPSA limited 10 with it.

I also have the IWB adapter. It works pretty well, but I rarely CCW my XD.

I have the Comp-Tac paddle with no cant for IDPA. Very happy with it. Also bought the double mag carrier, but next time will buy two singles instead.

Another very popular holster for IDPA is the Blade-Tech Sting Ray Belt Holster. Very well made, adjustable cant and IDPA approved. The attachment system can be changed out, but not all of the attachments are IDPA approved. The belt and Sting Ray belt systems are. The Dropped & Offset and Tek-Lok should be fine for USPSA. They run $60 or so.
