i have a XD-40 Service and am stuck between 2 holsters, my biggest concern is concealablity and then comfort

what do you guys think

http://www.comptac.com/ct_ctac.html (C-Tac)

http://rlcompanyusa.stores.yahoo.net/iwbholsters1.html (The Answer)

i think that extra leather is the seller for me, to help keep the weapon off me and sweat off weapon

If you are considering the answer I would take a look at the Crossbreed holsters as well. I don't have one yet but I've heard good things and is next on my list.

I just received my C-Tac yesterday. It conceals very nice and seems very comfortable ( have not left the house with it yet ).

I think sweat is going to get on your IWB weapon no matter what holster you got. I got the c-tac slide model 40/45 so it will fit a .40 sub or a 40 tac or a 45 service/tac. Nice and versitile. It wasnt listed on their site, you have to call for the "slide" model. I ordered it Friday and it got here yesterday Wednesday.

I just got my Crossbreed Supertuck. It wins. Once I have purchased Tucker's The Answer, I will let you know if it changes.

I have c-tac. It's comfortable already. But the Answer" with the extra leather looks pretty much like c-tac with the leather pad to the back against the body. I'm assuming the leather should be even more comfortable, the slight problem is it will make the whole thing a little thicker and it's more expensive

Question

I don't want to hijack the thread, but is there any IWB holster that doesn't require the use of a belt...? I posted this up in other forums but did not get any replies. I'm going to be getting the XD45 w/4" barrel. I'm wanting to carry this gun. My typical attire is either jeans and a t-shirt or just shorts and a t-shirt (I work for a small business my in-laws own so I don't really have a dress code, per se). My clothes are usually fairly loose fitting and the shorts and jeans I wear are usually baggy and comfortable... and by baggy and comfortable, I don't mean I'm tripping over my pant legs and have my ass and Calvin Klein underwear sticking out. I don't ever tuck in my t-shirts and I usually never wear a belt...

Is there a specific kind of holster I can use for my personal situation with the XD45 that will be concealable and comfortable and not require the use of a belt?? Or am I asking for too much?

I wouldn't even consider wearing any kind of holster without a belt. Even if it is a clip on holster, the belt supports the weapon and, depending on your gear, helps keep everything in place.

Having said that, I am also not the type of person who would consider holsters like the BELLY BAND, THUNDERWEAR, or similar options that do not require a belt but still locate the weapon on or near the waist. Check those out.

I have two c-tac holsters and they are surprisingly very comfortable (before I got my first, I wasn't sure that a hard kydex holster would be comfortable, especially as an IWB, but it is). I can conceal a service size XD or a full sized 1911 easily. The c-tac is also molded with kydex between the slide of the gun and you - it may not be 100%, but it does offer quite a bit of protection from sweat. I also have a Galco Sky Ops that is very comfortable, but offers no protection from sweat on the part of the slide that is not inside the holster.
