Fiber Optic Sights

Has anyone put fiber optic sights on their gun? I was wondering if they work, or what peoples thoughts are on them.

See all the rave reviews on TFO's.
Those are Tritium Fiber Optics. And I've yet to hear of a single person who'se got them and wasn't thrilled.

My thoughts aren't "on" them, but I will be purchasing a set soon. Dawson's from Pistol Gear. I have been wanting a set since I got my front sight installed onto my 1911 limited gun. Very fast and very easy to see. Just a precise as other conventional sights but they have a little added visibility. I love them. They are slightly fragile so they are not everyday carry sights. Just competition sights. The TFO's are the carry style of Fiber optics. They also have tritium inserts. I have not seen them but I have heard rave reviews from all that have them.

I puchased a set of TruGlo TFO's off e-bay and had the local gunsmith install them... I don't do a whole lot of night or low-light shooting but even in the day I enjoy the TFO's better than stock sights.

The first time you walk into a dark room and look at the sights you will be AMAZED by them..

I had a set of Dawson Adjustable fiber optics put on my XD45 Tactical by Springfield Custom and I wouldn't be without them, but this is primarily a range gun used in good daylight. The sights are incredible...

My only problem is that the Dawson Adjustables sit high and I've had a bit of a problem with some holsters - like the Blackhawk Serpa. The Dawson non-adjustable don't seem to have this problem.

Good luck with your decision.

I installed a set of TFO's on one of my pistols. I am really impressed with them in both daylight and darkness. Very nice!

Tru-Glo Tritium Fiber Optic Sights

If you decide to get fiber optic sights make sure you get the tritium fiber optic sights. While the fiber optic sights gather and direct light very well, the tritium make them light up as if the sights were run on batteries. I had them installed on my XD Sub 40 by ajames and I liked them so much I had them installed on my duty carry XD 45 ACP. I can go from an outdoor light environment into an interior darker environment without any change. I showed them to some of the guys I work with and they like them so much they went and put them on their Glocks. The only complaint I have heard is that some people say that the sights are distracting because they are so vivid. Hope this helps.

I've got Williams Firesights on my XD9 IDPA gun, they are great. I can't imagine spending 3X as much for Dawsons. I have TFOs on my XD40 sub, they are incredible. Night sights that look better during the day, what more could you ask for.

I run the Dawson front fiber optic with factory rear (from Pistol Gear)--great improvement over factory sight. Very fast acquistion, and I personally didn't want rear fiber distracting from the front sight. The front sight should be the focus point.

Here are the sights I ordered from Scott at Pistolgear. They are very bright in the daylight. Clear enough inside too.
