I am 5'10" and 145#, so we are pretty close. I had a helluva time finding a good way to fit my .45 Service w/o printing. I never tried a shoulder holster but I personally feel everyone and their grandmother knows to look for a gun there plus I avoid having to cross-draw, but that's just my opinion. I carry on my belly just to my weak side. I like to be able to cover my weapons if anyone grabs for it so I always limit myself to the front waistband. (Ex-wrestler, so I feel confident keeping it secure there.) It is also natural to have one's hands close to the gut (especially if you've been hit/assaulted) so I feel it is a good set-up for a quick, discreet draw. I had to get a 'real' belt from thebeltman.com before I felt reasonably sure that I was not printing. Otherwise the long grip always pokes my shirt in any other position or with my old (thin) belt. The weight of the gun loaded was stretching the crap out of the old belt and the grip was too far out from my body. The new belt adds about 1" + out in front because of the thickness which holds my shirt out from my belly enough to keep my shirt off the outside corner of the grip end. I use an IWB holster from BladeTech called the "UCH" that I ordered from PistolGear. Old School is the owner and a commercial sponsor to this site so you can support the forums and get honest advice.
The one main drawback to my method is I look like I have a beer-belly or a weird medical condition if anyone really looks at a side view as the whole setup adds about 3" to my belly button. I guess the other concern is that I had to learn to flex my abs a little as I crouch or sit to keep the muzzle from poking my peter at times. Just flexing allows the grip to shift up rather than digging into my belly forcing the muzzle-end down and in. I have to wear snug briefs due to a vasectomy and the combination of riding high and the gun riding too low can pinch! More than you probably wanted to know but hey, you came here for the gritty details, right?
