Does anyone use BIG DOT SIGHT?

I'm just wondering if anyone around here using XS 24/7 BIG DOT SIGHT SET. Was it bigger? And was it work well in low light? I was looking at pic and thinking around the big dot has a big white area that doesn't glow.. So if it's dark then would you be able to align your sight?

No, when it is dark the Big Dot sights suck. The sight picture is completely different in low light than in normal light.

I also don't think they're any "faster" during normal light, either.

I have XS Big Dot sights on my XD.
For me, attaining a picture is very very fast, profoundly faster than a 3-dot configuration, in day, night and twilight conditions.
At night the difference is magnified, particularlly in the 4-30 feet range.
I've trained extensively with my XD in tactical handgun classes, and the longer classes involve a night shoot. The difference in the dark is huge- I had to guess on sight picture before, especially when shooting from a draw. Stress factors are also introduced in our night shoots (flashing lights, noises, etc.) and the XS, after adjusting to them, significantly improved my hits with eye dialation stress.
I didn't like them at first, they take a while to adjust to; for me, that was a couple of months, two 1100+ round classes and another 1200+ rounds at the range, but now I love 'em.
Downside to XS Big Dot is they still significantly downgrade distance (50+ feet) shooting for me. Perhaps I should have gone Small Dot to retain accuracy at distance.

If I had the option, I'd go with the big dots.

Consider the intent of the Big Dot. It is made for quick and close target acquistion. For longer shot (over 10 yards) you may have issues because the front sight is so large.

The Tritium vial, the element that glows, is small and is only intended to give you an idea of where the sight is in total darkness.

Like all products, the Big Dot has its place.

Hope this helps.

Good point OS. I was just thinking of my carry gun. I probably wouldn't want them on my range pistol.

Thanks for all comments. I'm trying to compare between the big dot, truglo TFO, truglo fiber optic (only because it has red front/ green rear sights)..

Still..thinking..

I take truglo TFO's everyday (and night) of the week over the XS Big Dot and pretty much any other sight available.

Point of view from a Mr. Magoo (bad eyesight). I currently have truglo TFOs but my crappy eyes have a very hard time picking up the front sight still. In low light my vision is drawn to the dots in the rear sight and I have to really search for the front. Daylight doesn't bring me any better results due to the comparatively small size of the illuminated part of the front sight.

Again, this is strictly from the perspective of someone with, ahem, compromised vision.

Can't speak for the Big Dots yet. They are on the way (Thanks OS) but my belief is I will rely on that big white dot during the day and my laser/light during evening/dark situations.

I just had ajames put Big Dots on my XD-40 a couple of weeks ago. I love them. I shoot with both eyes open, and I am cross-eye dominant. With standard three dot sights, it would take me a while to pick up the front sight. I very much prefer the dot-the-i Sig style sights. For me the Big Dots are just what I wanted. They are also very bright at night. As already stated, they are for quick target aquisition, not for target shooting. I can get quick hits on target with them, but my groups are not that great. It just depends on what you are looking for. I think they are perfect for a self-defence pistol, but not a good choice for a range gun.
