bhi serpa or safariland 6004?

anyone done a field test between the bhi serpa and the safariland 6004? these are the two that i'm leaning towards. the others that aren't all the way out of the running are the spec-ops vapor and the hsgi universal.

I vote for the Safariland 6004. The Sherpa is okay, but I prefer the 6004. Since it is personal preference, I don't think you would go wrong with either one. My 2 cents.

Personally, I prefer the comfort and versatility of the HSGI thigh rigs. I have wo of them as a matter of fact, one in OD for CONUS work and one in desert for deployments. However, if my choices are limited between the Safariland 6004 (yup, have one of them too but I don't use it as much now that I have my HSGI rigs) and the Serpa, I'd go with the 6004 any day. Run a search for problems with the Serpa holster jamming on debris and you will understand why I pass on the Serpa design.

I too have a safariland hoodie, and I like it for thigh wear, but on the hip it rides too high for my liking, the hoodie is good, no doubt, just not for me...as far as the serpa and the "claims" of debris jamming the button, this has been beat to death. I can see it happening "maybe", at least I understand the point, but the hoodie needs to be pressed down to rotate too, couldnt debris get in there too? plus the hoodie is a bit too weak, if you dont catch it straight down, it twists and doesnt depress quickly. now for thigh wear, I go with the blade tech, beats the hell out of the safariland.....the serpa may not be the best holster if your operating in the prone position in a gravel pit 24-7, but for the regular joes its fantastic.....

i've been hearing REALLY bad things about blade-tech's retention. that's why i ruled that one out. i think i'm really leaning towards the 6004, but it's still a toss up between the bhi, the 6004 and the hsgi.

its adjustable (the blade tech)....?? I can crank them down and it aint going nowhere, or it can be loosey-goosey as they wear em for competition.....for plain clothes wear, I use an open top blade tech, for swat I use the same thing, just a bit snugger on the adjustment and the thigh holster has a thumb snap as a secondary (level II).......love them both more than any safariland product Ive ever owned, and there has been a ton of them
