ClipDraw
Will the ClipDraw work well on a XD40 Service model?

I don't know any reason that it wouldn't. I use one on my XD-9SC and my .40 Service isn't that much heavier.

As Im having quite a difficult time finding a holster that I actually LIKE and thats comfortable for IWB, ive been considering the ClipDraw. What, if any, are the downsides of using a ClipDraw on a Service Sized XD40? I believe the XD45 is a tiny bit bigger than the XD40.
I have only seen pic's of the ClipDraw and I did see 2 screws, Im hoping that you dont drill holes for anything. |

No holes get drilled or used on the gun. Only super strong, removable double sided tape are used to adhere the gun and the clipdraw. The two screws you see are the screws used to hold together the two pieces of metal that make up the clipdraw. The one is the mounting plate (obviously mounted to the gun, the other is the actual "clip" that secures the gun to your belt. The screws are there so that you can adjust the amount of "clamp tightness" between the "clip" and the mounting plate.
Make sense? Any more questions? |

That would be the 9mm Sub Compact.
BTW - I have yet to replace the original tape and it has been through many ultrasonic baths with Ed's Red and several soakings in Poly Dunk It. It will be soft after that but in an hour or so it has firmed up again. Another beauty of the Clip Draw is that you can leave it attached and still use most OWB holsters.

Actually- the clip draw works very well on the service model. I just disappears with a t-shirt with no printing. I had to move mine over to my sig though- With the clip draw base on my XD45- It wouldn't fit in my IDPA holster. So now I carry my 45 in my bare asset IWB holster. I love the clip draw and hated to have to remove it. FYI- my holster is kydex accu-mold type- So the 1-2mm had a negative affect on fit to my XD.
