Using Crayons is a great way to "test" different colors and how they'll look on your XD.

I don't know about green... I've never tried that on my black XD's. I have tried white and it looked nice. I've seen red pictured elsewhere on this forum, but didn't care for it personally.

I'm kind of partial to a blue slide w/ silver lettering. And it's done w/ a lacquer stick (not a Crayon) for a more professional permanent application.

Thanks, but I can't take full credit. I only did the silver lettering.

Rich at Canyon Creek did the GunKote Blue slide, as well as the silver "small parts" (trigger, mag release button, etc).

and R/T Performance was the originator of the color scheme - I just copied it for my fiancee's gun. She loves cobalt blue things, so why not a slide, too?

It does look sharp though, huh?

I used this, from one of our own (ajamesp51):

I should have my slide in Monday from James with new sights on it.

I also ordered a silver lacquer stick from him, but I have several different color Markal Paintstik (the wax base ones) and Markal Paint Marker ( more like paint itself) at my disposal from work. Would these work the same as the one I ordered?

Sorry, I've never used those products. I've only used Crayon (as test coloring), then the Laquer Stik for a final coloring. Hopefully others can answer your question....

Unless you have a "spare" slide you'd like to practice on, in case the other products don't work out....

I used a paintbrush and just brushed the paint on thick over the entire emblem, counted to 10, and brushed excess off with a towel. Repeat as necessary. The slight tint left outside the letters was removed fairly easily with hoppes #9 as long as you get it before it dries completely. YMMV.
