TLR lens cover
I have a Streamlight TLR-1 on my XD9 and it works great, but after a few boxes of ammo I get this discoloration on on the top hood of the light which I don't mind, and the grey soot over the lights lens which I do mind. it is thick and hardens when it cools and a pain to get off. I see on streamlights web site that they make flip up lens covers for these lights but I can't find any place that sells them. does anyone have one and how do they work. where can I buy one. thanks

Rub some CLP or other clear gun oil on the lens and the top portion of the hood prior to shooting. When finished, all the powder residue should come off a lot easier

It gets hot have you tried the oil thing your self? Does it get baked on? Does it discolor the lens? Will it cause premature failure of the lens?

I will be the obvious one here, why not take it off when you go shooting?

I carry it with the light attached why would I practice without it, it shoots differently with and without, less muzzle flip (not that there was much before) but still a difference

It does look cool on there doesn't it. I haven't fired mine with my TLR-1 on it yet. I've been kinda worried about the residue on it too. I do need to shoot it with it attached and see what difference it makes as far as muzzle flip goes. I might not get as much residue on mine due to the fact that mine is a V-10.
