First improvement recommendations
I love my XD40 Tactical, and in typical fashion I want to make it better. I've searched for improvements I can make, but I'm wondering which one I should do first. I don't want to go hog wild, just one thing at a time. I want to witness each thing seperately. So where should I start? Springs, guide rod, trigger work, doesn't matter? So many choices. The very first thing I did was Heinie Straight 8's, but that's more choice than improvement.

i dropped fiber optic sights on mine. will be replacing them soon. i'm also looking at a 22# don't guide rod and spring. i've got the 40 and it's a tad snappy. after that i'm doing stuff to my ar then i'll have a trigger job done by rich.

At least 500 rounds and then send it off to Rich at Canyon Creek for his trigger job. It isn't cheap but you won't believe the improvement in the trigger and most likely your accuracy. It is absolutely amazing!

Since I'm now unemployed I'll have plenty of range time coming. Trigger sounds to be the way to go, and Rich must be the man. Thanks all.

I would do range time to get used to it, better sights, then a trigger job. That's the order in which I'm doing it. I've got the first two covered, just need a good trigger job.

I've kept mine to a minimum. I shot it a few times, probably 400-600 rounds in total, and then installed the DGR with the 22# spring in my 40 Service model. The first time out with it was a bit different, but the second time out, awesome!! I think I was thinking about it too much the first time out and wasn't focused on shooting, but the last time out I burned up some ammo and was shooting pretty well for me. Next step will be a trigger job, but for now I want to put about another 1,000 rounds through it with the DGR only.

Depends what you are going to use your XD for.
For just home safety I suppose it is good just the way it is.
