What would you think should be factory equipment?
I have noticed that there isn't an abundance of aftermaket accessories other than holsters and sights available for the XD's which I think is sad because the XD/2000 is a solid platform, but could use some tweaking.
I am glad to see EFK FireDragon offering conversion barrels and was the reason I bought an XD instead of a Glock, but what aftermarket accessories or upgrades would you like to see Springfield incorporate into them from the factory. Here's my list: Extended slide stop/release because I shouldn't have to reposition my pistol to hit it or hit it with my left thumb Extended mag release--I have recently found an extended button better slide finish--the factory finish is just too thin and scratches too easily for daily/duty carry Adjustable sights as standard or factory upgrade option since I really dislike the 6 o clock aiming method. Solid recoil rod instead of the factory hollow one. The removed weight is not worth the accuracy problems associated with binding And my biggest observation would be to remove the excess creep in the trigger before the trigger safety engages. If you have ever worked the trigger while the slide is off and watched everything move, the amount of movement in mine is to the point that it is borderline slop.

The XD accessories arena has definitely become better. It wasn't all that long ago when even a holster designed for the XD was difficult to find.

I'm actually really happy with the design of the XD. About the only thing I wish I could have had as "factory standard" is the Trijicon sights. These are an option now, but I feel they should be standard.
As for the trigger creep that you mentioned, I have absolutely no problem with it at all. I don't even notice it after the first shot, and it barely registers before that. I agree that a solid guide rod, is more dependable, but I do like the captive spring. I am still undecided about it for now. The finish has been addressed on the new XDs and supposedly the melonite is a much better finish. I really don't care though because I like mine just fine. A little wear on the finish looks good to me.

I have to admit, I do not understand why they don't offer a "Loaded" version.
Only thing is; what would they put on it? Other than sights, which are a toss up; Trijicons, FO, or adjustables, you won't please everone.

I thought that you could get the adjustable sights from the factory as well. I would like to see a larger slide stop installed from the factory as well as the Tru-Glo TFOs a factory available sight option.
Another thing that I would like to see is a couple different models: 1. A "compact" model with the SC grip and slide from a service. 2. A single stack model with a thinner grip for better CCW in SC and "compact" and maybe service. |

Available OEM SPARE PARTS!
I know nobody at Springfield will sit up nights worrying about this, but until they resolve this issue I will not buy or recommend these guns for duty or defensive use. Period.

They don't have to because the gun has a lifetime warranty. They do pay for your shipping to them.
