Tell a police department that they need to buy two guns for each officer, or tell a rookie cop that, when he's working a second job to make the car payment. Tell a person living on a fixed income.

You boys go ahead and get stump-broke to the notion that duty/defensive guns need to be shipped back to the factory for minor repairs. Since I didn't just fall off the turnip truck yesterday, I ain't buying it.

Wow, some people really have thier panties in a wad over this. Why even troll this board when you know that SA is not releasing any spare parts to the general public. Is the XD a bad gun? Certainly not. When I buy something I am not going to go out buy spare parts for it. That surely says alot about the gun if you NEED spare parts. SA is repairing you gun for you on their dime, they have been pretty quick recently on warranty to get you your gun back, and if they can not fix it they will give you a new one.

Unless you've studied with the SarMaj from Monty Python, then you don't REALLY know how to defend yourself against someone who attacks you with a piece of Fruit, now do you?

"You can get more with a kind word and a bannana than you can with a kind word alone.”

Do you have a spare tire for your car? If it goes flat, should you have to ship your car back to the manufacturer to get it fixed, or would it make a lot more sense to make spare tires available to the general public?

It just doesn't make sense. Why not send out the $5 part with $3 postage, rather than require the hassle of shipping UPS/FedEx at $50 each way, paying a tech an hourly wage to replace the part, and holding on to your gun for a few weeks? It's great that they will refund your shipping and stand behind the product. I've had to send mine in, and I appreciate the warranty. Maybe the reason the price has gone up on the whole XD line is because every marred extractor hook is costing Springfield $150 a pop. Break a firing pin? That's gonna cost SA $150 as well. Lose a spring or a roll pin? That's another $150. Do you see where the craziness is going? Why not let the unwashed masses BUY extra parts to keep on hand, just in case something simple breaks, so that we aren't without the gun for the better part of a month? You could market a maintenance package for those that want it, consisting of a new extractor, a set of roll pins, a captive guide rod, springs and a firing pin, and if the parts don't solve your problem, by gosh, send it in at that point, and SA can take care of it for you.

Oh, and I think there should be a rule that you can't call someone a troll if you have been a member of the board less than 6 months.

The spare tire anology is kind of far fetched.... But if your car does have something wrong you do bring it back to the dealership to have them fix it for you. Now it would be a great idea of SA did have dealership networks to where they had gunsmiths replace broken parts for you.
