whoo hoo! Got more mags!!

OK OK, I know I'm only talking about spare magazines here, but I'm on a budget, and I couldn't bring myself to spend $22-25 per mag for my XD-9 service (or more for my subbies)....

But, when looking at my favorite gun store (X-Ring Supply) for spare mags for my Savage, I saw three boxes of "loose" magazines near the floor. I dug through all the boxes looking for XD magazines. There were a lot of .357 and .40 mags (which I don't have), and I was about to give up, when I found two (2) XD-9 10-rounders! They look EXACTLY like the ones I got with my service model, except for the fact that they don't have "SA 9mm 10rd" printed on the bottom like the new ones do (they're just "plain"). For only $12 a piece I didn't care what they said on the bottom!

I "tested" them in my XD when I got home. They fit perfectly, and drop freely. Whoo hoo! Now I have a total of 4 mags for the XD-9 service! I don't know why I posted this, but I'm just excited. I like finding deals like this, since I'm on a budget anyway.

[/excitement]

And for the record, the other caliber mags (10-rnd) were $15 a piece I think. Being the nice guy I am: If anyone is interested in these, I could go back and grab them for you, and ship them to you (you, of course, would send me a check in return). Email or PM me and let me know. There were a few .357 mags, and at least 5 .40 mags there this morning. I'm assuming these are good prices. They're the best I've found anywhere.

Dave, go pick up the 40 mags and tweak the feed lips in a tad and you will be able to use them in your 9 and get 13 rounds in them.

I had thought about that, because I remember reading that same suggestion on here many times... but I hesitate for one big reason:

I'd hate to modify a factory mag myself, for fear of the mod not being "perfect" enough to consistently and reliably feed the rounds when I needed them most (i.e. self defense).

I guess I could just use them at the range and label them in a special way, but I'd rather have ALL my mags be at-the-ready for at home or for carry.

Thanks for the tip though!!
