XD Slide Stop Release ?

Does anyone make an extended or enhaced Slide Stop releasr for the XD ?
or
Has anyone modified thier own to enhace it's grip ?

I find on a hot day when your hands sweat that it would be helpful to have the Slide release extend a bit.

Any thoughts ?

Thats a good question ! I would also like to have just a little bigger slide release on my 45 as well. Just enough to get a bit more of my thumb onto !!

Well according to their website they just offer an extended mag release not a extended slide lease.

I agree 100% with you. A raised release would be a welcome addition to my XD40. I am either forced to twist the pistol to one side or hit it with my left thumb in rapid fire strings and is very awkward.

I am used to AR15's and even stock/factory ones with the way they're designed are much more ergonomic. I think Springfield could very easily modify this part to make the entire pistol more desirable.

I have also thought of buying a replacement release and having an extension welded on it and then either duracoating it or putting some Norrells on it afterwards. It would be a very simple fix, but would be easier if they just made it right to start with.

+1 on all your points. It's even worse for left handers. I've talked to SA Custom and Bowie Tactical and neither of them offer one, even as a custom job. I'll check with Springer this week and see what he knows/offers and repost.

Hmmmm....I'll have to take a look at the slide stop and see if I could possibly design a bolt-on type extension for it, or maybe reengineer it a little (I'm a USAF machinist). It seems to me that a simple modification wouldn't be that hard, but then again I'll have to take a closer look.

Try this, it works great. Take a piece of grip tape, cut it to the same dimension as the slide stop and stick it on. Your thumb will never slip off again and the grip tape will give you all the traction you need. Plus, it will cost you about $.05 in material.
