Have been wanting to try a pair of these kind of muffs and saw these in the Americian Riflemen I am wondering about the quaility compared to say Radians or one of the other high dollar electronic muffs any input is appreciated.

Can't comment directly on the Caldwells, but I use a pair of Peltor electronic muffs & love them. I notice the Caldwells have a higher passive noise reduction rating than the Radians you also linked to. Kinda hard to beat a $30 price. You can easliy pay that for a good pair of non-electronic muffs.

If you are intending to also shoot rifle or shotgun with them the Radians, or Peltor 6S, or ProEars are all thinner than the Caldwell model. The thinner models will have a lower passive dB reduction rating.

My Peltors are pretty low profile (thin) but I still get some interference when shooting my rifles from the bench.

I think I most like the fact that you can carry on a conversation with other people wearing electronic nose reducers without having a shouting match as with purely passive muffs.

I use the Caldwell Muffs

I have several pairs of these muffs and they work just fine. The only downside is they are more bulky than Radians or Peltor. This isn't an issue with pistol shooting, but can become an issue when rifle shooting, because the larger muff will hit the buttstock of the rifle when you try and get a proper cheek weld. This usually only happens for straight back stocks (e.g. AR-15) particularly in the standing position. But for the money (I got mine at www.midwayusa.com on sale for $26), I don't know of a better electronic muff.
