Lasermax has them available for the XD 9's and 40's. Lasermax has informed several of us (via emails) that the 45 ACP will be available in Q4 (Later this year). Crimson trace has not responded to me (Several attemps) but in thier forum the stated that "maybe" sometime next year.

yeah i had all that info...I had already talked to lasermax...don't really care about a grip laser thou....i think the laser being in the guide rod would be alot more accurate.

...more accurate???? all Laser have a "zero point". that's the distance where the Bullet and the laser "dot" intersect. this is adjustable.

Yeah, but the guide rod laser is going to be less likely to get knocked out of alignment (sure, the grip isn't too likely to have this problem, but it's slightly more likely). Also, I like the idea of the laser being as close to the barrel as possible. THat last part is just preference, not an actual advantage.

it is an advantage....the laser being directly under the barrel as opposed to the side of the gun.

Can you articulate what the advantage is? I've been training with lasers for years; would love to learn your perception of advantage on this topic.

thanks.

That's how I always feel, but the adjustments make a huge difference, I'm sure, so I figure I can't diss one system in favor of another. Although I would think you'd get both up/down and sideways inaccuracy at different ranges with a grip laser, while under the barrel would be vertical only.

Don't get me wrong I love Lasers. I'm one of those who's seen the light and I'm not going back. I've included laser training in to my weekly routine for years now. It's part of my low light stuff.

And as I get older, my eyes appriciate them even more. I beleive any laser if better than no laser (flame on). My traing is still traditional Sights, but the last part of the regiment s always flash lights and lasers, just like storng hand and weak hand.

I for one can't wait untli Lasermax comes out woth thier offering for the XD 45 ACP service model.!!!!

Well, you're lining up one axis of the laser with the firearm itself by position. With a laser on the side, you align both axis by adjustment, not by position.

Meaning with something directly below/above the barrel, you're really only adjusting one axis at distance (y), whereas with a grip laser, you're aligning two (x,y). That would mean you also need to compensate x-axis at greater distances as well as y-axis.

Maybe I'm totally wrong, just a thought.
