The light in the DAC Sportsafe goes out after the door has been open for a few seconds. The beeping can be turned off.

I purchased a cheap adjustable power supply from Harbor Freight to save the batteries.

i love my gun vault. and i do not worry about the beeping, because if the alarm is going off, the beeping will not be heard. if by some chance the beeping is heard by a BG, so be it. it may just be the last thing he ever hears.
