Thnx for sharing xd40sc4life, I think I will shop there for ammo as well rather than wal-mart.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but I believe these are replacement barrels and not conversion barrels. Just thought I'd mention it in case you were looking for conversion barrels.

Why could you not use these as sub compact conversion barrels? Is there a difference? I have a .40 so could i not get a 9mm and it would work. Do .40 mags work with 9mm barrels (on anything 4'' or 3'')?

I believe that the .40 and .357 are thicker barrels than the 9mm.
So the "conversion" barrels are effectively a "bull" barrel and the regular 9mm barrel would not fit.

Right, the 9mm conversion barrel is made from the same stock as the .40 and .357, otherwise the breech face would not match up with the chamber and you would have major ejection problems. I'm sure there would be other problems as well.

I wonder if anyone sells refurbished non-rifled barrels for the 9mm, that is something I would be interested with pursuing. You get what you pay for of course.

Wow, Midway got my attention until I saw where there
was a 30+ day waiting period. Which means they are not
in stock.

IrvIII at Bar-Sto has promised us a drop in barrel for our
sub-compacts when he got the specs down to suit him.
Evidently he has done so.

I cannot complain though. Bar-Sto builds a fine barrel.

I had to wait for almost six months to get a 9mm bull
barrell drop-in for my Sig P229/40/357.

I am relatively new to handgun ownership and am seeking to understand this product. Specifically, my XD 40 sc cost approx. $450 new. What is the justification for spending $200 more to buy a different .40 cal. barrel? Is the bar-sto barrel that much better, how, in what respects? Is the experience that after market barrels like this produce more accurate shooting?

Thanks in advance for the replies. Just trying to learn and understand.
