Talking Custom lettering on slide

I've seen that some of you guys have custom lettering on the sides of your slides (XD40 springfield armory) that standout. Is this something you have to send away for or someone semi technical handle this? How is this achieved? Thank you in advance

Crayons are the easiest to use and in most cases are FREE. Post pics!

I thought people were kidding when I read "crayons". I was thinking it would all melt away from the heat of the slide. Does it?

Crayons are the way to go. Don't use the generic ones, spend the big bucks and use Crayola. I tried the lacquer stick and the thing was the biggest pain in the a$$. Tried the crayon and it worked like a charm.

The crayon is no joke, and as stated, Crayola is the way to go. My crayon is over two years old and still looks good. I do coat my slide with Armadillo, so that helps a bit.
