Will a western belt work for IWB concealed carry?

Any help would be much appreciative.

That SO depends on you and your gun. DH tells me he tried every belt in town before settling on a soft leather one. This apparently works fine for him. I have the stiffest contoured belt I could find and still want a stiffer one.

If you already have the gun and the holster, go belt shopping. Try the belts on in the dressing room with the door shut (you probably have figured that out already, but after some of the stories I've read lately, I'm afraid to assume anything). Remember to sit, stand, kneel, lean forward, raise your knees as though climbing stairs, etc. with the belt on. Some belts feel fine until you sit down, etc.

If it won't work in Texas, it surely won't work anywhere else.

Thumbs up The support it gives

Any belt is just as good as the support it gives. Meaning if it holds the holster and your handgun without saging and slipping around then it is a good gunbelt. but most soft thin belts don't support well. So if you need a good carry belt it has to be about 1-1/2 inch wide with two plys of back to back quality leather. If a westren belt meets the requirement for support then it's good to go.

Also depends on the quality and design of the holster. Some days I wear a thin leather dress belt with a suit, other days I wear a Wilderness Instructor 5 stitch belt with my khakis or jeans and still other days I don't wear a belt at all when I wear sweats or shorts with drawstrings.
I use a Tucker Heritage, Milt Sparks Versamax or Comptac Gurhka and they all work well in all 3 situations with clips.

I wear a double-sided leather belt (one black, one brown). Besides always being able to match my shoes, it's also double-thick leather. I cinch it all up tight around the waist and my Don Hume IWB never moves from its 3:00 position. Sometimes I even wear an extra mag pouch on the weak side with no ill effect.

If it's a decent western belt, it's probably made of durable "harness" leather and is probably thick enough to handle most IWBs as long as you don't wear your belt really loose. I would stay away from the woven leather belts or non-reinforced fabric belts as both types tend to compress and roll over with use.

Thanks guys for the advise. I decided today to go with a Bullhide Belt from the Beltman. I have heard of nothing but good remarks and I know there will never be any questions with a true Gun Belt!
