that would be pretty cool. Probably cost as much as the gun did though. which means I'm to cheap to buy one.

He said they were still in the R&D phases but they were working with the service models right now. and I don't see how a 250$ conversion is to much money. Once you save 250 in 9mm 40 or 357 you will love it!!!

Also, putting any kind of optics on a .22 is in most cases easy. Other than the pocket pistols, .22 caliber guns are mostly target or hunting guns and designed for stuff like that. With an XD .22 conversion, mounting optics would be an expensive challenge. Of course with enough money anything is possible. But then why worry about saving $ on ammo? At least for me, the fun of shooting my .22 (with a red dot) is getting dime sized, or smaller, groups at 50 feet. Without some kind of optical sight, I don't think it's possible to see with that kind of precision. I suppose some would say that shooting a converted XD is good practice. But I've always thought of any self-defense practice being done at realistic distances. I don't use sights at all when practicing self defense....just a silhouette target at fairly close distances since I don't expect I'd have the time or the composure to line up a target with sights if my life were on the line. Also, a 9mm has some muzzle flip with an XD...certainly a .357Sig or a .40 S&W wouldn't feel anything at all like a .22 conversion. A .22 shot from an XD probably wouldn't move off target at all. So I just don't see it as practical for "practice". Besides, shooting a .22 at self-defense distances would seem boring. Shooting is supposed to be fun! (unless it's done out of necessity, which we all hope we never experience, and if we do, it is not likely to be with a .22). Peace, D. |

Well when you shoot about 500-750 rounds a weekend practicing for a match I think it more cost effective to have the same gun for the same feel and draw than using a different pistol. I like 22 conversions. They have helped me improve my 1911 trigger control, accuracy, and speed.

I shot my .22LR Marvel conversion for the first time this weekend. It is mounted on a 1911 frame and it is CRAZY accurate. It was so much fun and I went through 200 rounds and still had 305 left in the box!
I welcome a .22LR conversion for the XD!
