One of the local ranges has weekly bowling pin shoots. When the pins are too shot up to use anymore they cut the heads off to use in a .22 match. I have a Ruger MKII but it sure would be nice to be able to use the same gun for both matches. I'm in for one.

I'm not sure where these $150-$250 price guesses are coming from. Even though I'm not thrilled at the whole idea of a .22 conversion since I don't see it as ideal for practicing one gun at the lower cost of .22 ammo, at those prices I'd be a buyer. But I would assume the prices would be more competitive with other quality conversion kits:

Looks like Marvel (with accessories....a 10 round magazine alone is $40) would be around a $400-$500 deal:
http://www.marvelprod.com/orderform.htm (six to eight week wait!!)

Kimber looks a bit less expensive...maybe a total of only around $300-$400 depending on goodies included. (Figuring shipping, etc. and other stuff...could be high, but seems like everything is a bit more after all is said and done).

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...equestid=16741

Seems like a lot...especially considering the cost of some very nice .22s in both target and non target configurations. Someone said somewhere recently (on this forum...forgot which thread) that the Wilson kit was even more (substantially more).

Do people get carried away with their wish lists? Someone wants a .357 Sig conversion for their 9mm? Is that to save on ammo costs? Help practice shooting their 9mm?

Guess I'm in a cranky mood. Sorry guys. Rough morning!

Here's a post from a thread a while back. Wish I knew about this deal when I was in the market for a .22. May still have to get one. Sounds like a truly super deal!!! (if still available...they were when I last looked). A quarter inch at 25 YARDS? Wow!!!

They already have the best trigger your gonna find right outa the box (and its adjustable) the test target medalion that came with mine is a 1/4" group at 25 yards my wifes is a 3/8" group at 25 yards Sig tests everyone in a machine rest before calling them done any that will not shoot under 1" at 25 yards from a machine rest are rejected.

We've ran every cheap .22 ammo available through them (I bought them to use as a break from shooting the centerfire guns when we go shooting every sunday so high dollar target ammo isn't a concern) we run a couple bricks of Federal through each every weekend they don't get cleaned untill we get home zero issues other than that one mag have fun
Peace,
D.

The 250$ comes from the other Advantage arms kits at the same price. And since you are so skeptical I can tell you have never fired a converted gun.

here's crossing my fingers that they make a 3" version too; I think my girlfriend would love shooting that! (not to mention I'd love the cheap ammo for random plinking!)

Wow, that's a pretty cool idea. I went from a 40 to a 9mm conversion to save money. But going to a 22 would definatley save on the pocket book. I don't compete butfind myself shooting at least 600 rounds a weekend on the XD, and that not including the 200 or so i put thru my sig mosquito (a 22).

You are right though, the mosquito is a diffent gun, different feel, differnt aim. If you want to get better on a particular gun, you have to shoot it and not a substitute. It's not the caliber but the gun. I don't care what caliber I shoot at the range, as long as it's my XD.

I too say "yeah for the .22 XD". Where do I sign up. Ditto on the 3" version conversion.

100 rnds of 9mm Winchester $11.98
100 rnds of 40cal Winchester $16.98
Shooting 600 rnds of 9mm $80
A 22 conversion for XD priceless

I spoke with AA this morning. They are designing a .22LR conversion for the XD, however it won't be out until the first of the year. I am guessing they will release it/announce it at SHOT 2007. Patience is a virtue.

Another thing to note, AA is not building a conversion for the XDSC or the current XD45ACP frame. Sorry.

Nope, I did not ask either. To be honest, the guy on the phone was rushed and did not want to discuss it too much. I assume it will be in the $250 range like the rest of their conversions.
