Sweet. I had been contemplating a Walther P22. I think I would rather get this instead. January isn't that long of a wait. Not to sound picky, but I wonder if some of these companies are going to start making .17 Mach2 conversions as well. Just because it would be cool.

I will certainly buy one of these for my .40 service - I've been scoping .22s to buy as a training gun (girlfriend's gotta start on something without a lot of kick), and this will save me $$. Plus, it's so cheap to shoot I just won't be able to resist.

I would be really curious to see what capacity they make the magazines...would be absolutely sweet to have a thirty+ capacity on that. That'd be a blast for hunting squirrels and such.

Used .22 Conversion on a Glock

I have used the .22 coversion for the Glock 17 a fair amount. It allows you to have the same grip and trigger pull, but without the back blast of the larger caliber. This is key to reducing flinching. The repetitions you learn with the .22 will translate into better performance with the regular caliber. (This same line of thinking is the reason why dry-fire practice is beneficial.)

You can shoot thousands of rounds of .22 with no flinching, where as ANY shooter, regardless of experience, when shooting full power full caliber rounds will eventually battle flinching after getting tired enough and after shooting enough rounds. (That is why all shooters need to practice ball and dummy drills occasionally, just to keep the flinching monster at bay! )

All the .22 conversions I have run across had a magazine capacity of 10 rounds. I expect the same from this conversion also.

didn't you all want this?

I kinda remember back when everyone would say, "Man, wouldn't a .22LR conversion be awesome?" and everyone would jump in and say, "YAH! SPRINGFIELD!!! MAKE US A .22LR CONVERSION"?? What happened, now that it's officially in the works you're all (lots of you it seems) poopy about it? I'm definitely thrilled about a .22LR conversion being in the works.

I, too, would be all over a .22 conversion for my XD40 service.

If the price is $250 or lower, I'll take it.
If the price is $150 or lower, I'll take 2!

If the price is 200$ that would be perfect! And 11.99 for 100 WWB is OK but 550 for 9.50 is so much nicer. The difference of 22lr vs 40 sw is Big but not as big as the shooting time can make up for. Cheaper bullets means more shooting. Thats all. No one is debating the fact that 40 kicks more than 9mm or 22lr. Getting the trigger time in is what I want, and as all the experts say trigger time with any gun is still trigger time. It doesn't matter if it is a 44mag or a BB gun. Sights and Trigger control is what you want!

And for the record, the 100 rd box at walmart that goes for under $12 is for 9mm, not for the 40...

In the spring and Fall I spend a lot of time at the range practicing my draws, and timed reloads. I am looking forward to the .22 conv because it will allow me to have an audible shot that doesn't cost near as much as a 9mm. If and when these things are available I expect to be putting close to 1K rounds of .22 through my XD9 and XD40 per month. If they are out in January I will have it paid for by the end of March.
