hogue grips?

Whats a good grip for the XD 40 Compact ? I like the feel stock but it seems a little slick. What are some good options, slip ons or adhesive types?

Slip-on grip sleeves are made by Pachmayr and Hogue. Some trimming may be required for the Sub-compact grip.

Several companies make stick-on grip panels or wrap-arounds. You can get them in rubber, "sandpaper", and some that have a felt or ultra-suede feel.
You can also purchase skateboard griptape and cut your own to fit.

The other option is stippling.

If you do a search here, you'll find feedback on all of these options.

I'm leaning towards the hogues mainly because I like the finger grips and they last forever. But i'll do a search on here and check it out. Also I was concerned with trimming the hogue grip like you said because of the grip safety.

The Pac Grip also has the finger grooves. In the end, the difference is subjective. If you do cut your grips do so with rounded corners to reduce the chance of tearing.

Thats a good Idea with the rounded corners on trimming, I didnt even think of that ..thanks. I know the pac grips use to be a little thicker then the hogues the XD might have a thin enough grip to were it will feel good on there. I'll have to check them out too.

I switched from sleeves to Agrips. Thinner and very comfortable. The hogues have that thick section in the middle that's just annoying to me.

I have switched too. I went with home-made grip tape wraps.

The Hogues are thinner over-all, but they have a palm swell as Sssnake mentioned above. The Pachmayrs are thicker, but no palm swell. Both are tacky and soft. Both absorb a limited amount of impact from recoil. Both have finger grooves. Both will slide around a bit if you get solvent under them.

From my experience, the Hogues will tear and roll on the ends more quickly than Pachmayrs.

If you decide to go with sleeves, and you carry daily or shoot at the range a lot....be prepared to replace the sleeves fairly often.

Decided to try out the Hogue grips since i've used them previously. They feel awsome had to trim a little at the top by the grip safety and that was it. It felt good before but now with that hogue finger grip it feels like its made for my hand and definalety like it wont slip when drawing and or shooting. If I get a chance i'll post some pics tomorow hopefuly and going to shoot it for the first time this weekend. I'll let you all know how it goes....thanks again everyone for the help and advise !!
