Ah, thank you for the clarification, Old School. I was not aware that the Dawson sights were adjustable. I can now understand why they would be more tuned to competition. Obviously, I didn't read the thread title as well as I should have!

Dawson also offers fixed sights, in Target, Night, or Fiber.

It shoots great MTEagle! I shot it this a.m. I like the sights, even with the FO it wasn't that bad for someone who shoots black sights. It hit the mini popper at 50 yards 5 for 5

I've used them (FO blacked out) for a LOT of rounds on my personal competition gun.
This is what service is all about. I sent the gun out at noon Monday for a trigger job & sights and Wednesday morning he is telling me how good it shoots.

It only took 3 days from order to delivery over a weekend for another Scott to get me 2 more magazines for this gun.

This will be a tech only report on the sights as the range is flooded.

The front sight measures .100 wide with a .040 rod, the rear sight opening is .120. The front sight is taller than normal at .285 to match the taller rear. I bought this strictly as a competition sight and DO NOT recommend it for any other purpose than punching holes in paper.

Without being able to gauge bullets strikes based on amount of sight offset all I can say is that there is light on both sides of the front sight with the blade centered. With the blade offset to where the dot hits the inside of the rear sight there appears to be about 3/4 of the blade width of light visable at the opposite side.

I will be taking it to a match this weekend & can give a more in depth report next week.

Like dolhasso, I have a set on my XD-9 Tactical that I use for USPSA competiton. They are perfect for me in that application. I have a set of the TFOs on my XD-9 Service that I use for HD and occasional carry. For that purpose, they are terrrific since I need a night sight but als strongly prefer the FOs.

By the way, you can pick up replacement FO in a variety of colors for about $5 for a meter of the stuff. That would likely be a lifetime supply. You can order it from Fluorescent Fiber at http://www.fiberopticproducts.com/Flourescent.htm. They will send it to you in an envelope in a few days. You'll need the 0.040-inch diameter for the Dawson sight.

Range Report. @ 10 yards if the front sight is centered in a USPSA target A Zone the rear sight can be displaced so the front sight is touching either side of the rear blade and still get A Zone hits. In bright sun light the fiber optic is bright but not over powering & with the optic at the bottom of the rear blade the top of the sight is flush with the top of the rear sight. I didn't get to try 50 yard poppers but the range has 50 yard gas bottles that ring nicely.

Everyone that handled the gun loved the trigger job including a couple of Glock shooters that have installed trigger kits.

Sportsman Warehouse has me #15 on the waiting list for an XD45.

Any interface problems between the Dawson Adjustable FO and the Blackhawk CQC holster? The front sight "tunnel" on the holster isn't exactly huge and the Dawson front sight looks taller than stock. I'm running a .40 Tactical so it sticks out of the bottom of the holster a bit. Love the holster and don't want to change. Anyone have any experience with the combo? Old School? Looks like you have Dawsons on the Service model in the pic of the CQC on your website, any advice?

I wish someone would make a "TFO like" adjustable sights. I love my TFO's, but if they where adjustables I would replace almost every single one of my currect collection.

Adjustables get out of adjustment, too.
That's why they're geared towards competition and not everyday use...
