fanny pack?
I do quite a bit of hiking, and I recently bought a framed backpack to tote around my daughter while footing around the woods. The waist strap of the pack makes it damn near impossible to get my gun out of the IWB holster I usually carry. So I'm thinking a fanny pack of some sort. I refuse to pay $80 for a Galco, so what are some other makes that are worth looking at? Cheaper = better, but I don't want junk.
Thanks!

Do a search on eBay for holster fanny pack. There are lots of one model that is leather and only about $11.00. I bought one of these a couple of years ago for occasional carry. It's decent soft leather and is fairly rugged. For $11.00 plus shipping it's hard to go wrong. On the expensive side again, take a look at the Maxpedition Fat Boy. It's pricey but is a little bit different than most other hiking carry options.

I have 2 made by Roma.
http://www.romagunbags.com/fanny.html I use the medium size for both my XD and my Beretta 92F Compact. I have had the one for my Beretta for 5-6 years and its held up great. I use them when on my boat or anytime I can't use a IWB or OWB holster. I like the Roma's because they hold up great and are pretty water resistant. I've been caught out in bad weather on my boat a few times and my gun has always stayed dry. They also have lots of pockets to keep your stuff in. You can find them for $25-$30. Here is the one for my XD. ![]()

Cool, thanks guys! While browsing Ebay I found an Unlce Mike's gunrunner in size small. I got it for $20 shipped to me. I just hope the small fits my 9sc. If not I'll try something else I guess.

Please post a review of the gunrunner. I'm trying to find a good fanny pack holster for riding (bicycle). I want one that can be "ripped" open quickly (one hand rip, same hand draw), and hopefully one that can stand up to a little bit of sweat.
Oh, and did I mention I need it to be really really cheap?

sjp:
i've become a huge fan of the Maxpedition line... My buddy has this pack of theirs: http://www.maxpedition.com/product/p...p_thermite.htm I wore it around paintballing one day... I wonder how it'd fit for a bike ride. i wouldn't fill it to the brim it's be pretty handy on the thigh. also, eddie bauer makes some pretty nice waistpacks/shoulder sling packs. |

Found an interesting prospect:
www.cwcases.com I'm emailing back & forth with the owner...sounds like he makes this stuff himself. In any case he's got a "waist tote" that's on sale for $20. I'm stuck between that one and the Cabela's pistol fanny pack ($15).
