Thank you. It wasn't for a lack of trying. (Just a smart a$$ thing I say to most everyone, no offense intended) Have a good day.

Newbie here and I'm having a similar dilemma. I'll be taking my cc class soon (within a year) and was looking around for holsters. "The Answer" looks good. Have you heard about or had experience with G-code holsters? It looks like a pretty good solution as well. What are the pros and cons of leather and Kydex?

To be honest, aside from the lack of retention devices (which doesn't bother me so much now), I don't feel there are any disadvantages of the hybrid (leather/kydex) holsters. The leather backer is comfortable and molds to the contours of your body, helping to create a nice fit. The leather backer also flexes towards the kydex when the hoslter is worn, essentially forcing the gun against the kydex for a tight fit in the holster. The kydex allows for a fast draw and easy one handed re-holstering (something you won't get from most IWB holsters).

I've never handled or owned a G-Code, so I don't know what they are like. From the pictures on the link they look like they may be constructed of some fairly thick kydex, which implies strength. I do own a Blackhawk SERPA, and highly recommend it for a synthetic OWB holster. Very fast, smooth and strong.

Whatever you purchase, don't be surprised if you end up with several holsters for your primary carry weapon. I average two holsters for each of my carry weapons, and my first ones are rarely my primary ones. But, if you get it right (for you personally) the first time, right on!!

Thanks for the info! Is there an advantage to either when dealing with IWB? Sweat, lint, comfort etc.?

No, I don't feel that Tucker or Crossbreed have an advantage over each other regarding lint. Both are open ended designs, and since they are IWB holsters, you are going to have lint no matter what (this is true of all types of concealment holsters, but IWB ones are the worst in my experience).

As far as sweat goes, The Answer leather backer is thicker, so it may absorb more sweat before transferring it to the weapon, but that also means it will take longer to dry out as well. If you are truly worried about sweat, I would suggest purchasing a second holster of the exact make you choose to use for carry and switch off every other day.

As far as comfort goes, they are pretty comparable, but I think the wider leather backer on the Crossbreed barely edges out the The Answer because it covers more of the slide (but changes how the gun is drawn slightly).

Seriously, from experience I can say you would be well served by either the Crossbreed or The Answer. Remember, Tucker Gunleather has a lifetime promise that if you don't like the holster for any reason or at any time you can return it and recieve a full refund, be it one week or 25 years from the date of purchase. One more thing to consider is that Crossbreed holsters are about 10-12 weeks behind (last time I checked) and Tucker usually has his holsters out in 6-8 weeks. Mine took longer because I am left handed and he didn't have the needed kydex piece on hand.

Stickman, thanks for the honest comparo. An excellent read and nice to have an unbiased third party give a side to side review.

One point of correction though, about lead times.

We are currently 6-8 weeks on delivery and not 10-12. The latest anything has ever gone out was a bit over 9weeks and we've gained a bit of ground since then.

thanks

My apologies, and thank you for setting me straight on the lead times. By the way, I'll be ordering another Supertuck for this summer sometime in the next few months. Till then, have a good one.

Great review! I have a bunch of Tucker Gunleather and the Answer for my XD 40 Service and was wondering what the difference was in the Crossbreed.

You have answered my questions.........Thanks
