I find the 941 to be very well worth the $10.
I have the 16-round magazines that came with my Service model. I would guess a shorter magazine would fit in the HKS just fine without mods. I'll guess you have the Sub Compact model.

Nope, I use it on my 12 round 40 mags. and also on my 16 9mm mags. Sometimes I have to push up a tad, on the mag. Weird....

Not sure why you needed to mod it. The slots are so you can fit different length magazines in the same loader. The base extends beyond the side of the mag enough to fit in whichever slot you require. I can use the 941 for my .40 S&W or my 9mm SC.
But regardless, best for the money I've found.

The base of my magazine wouldn't fit into the slots at the bottom of the HKS 941.

Well, I have both the 15...and the 16-round mags for my 9mm. Some of you are saying there MAY be a problem with the length of 'em? Hmmm...

Why is NOTHING ever EASY? Ever noticed that?!

Oh, thanks for the pics, Prophead!

My HKS also works fine on the 16 round mags for my 9mm service.

My local gun store sells about 8 different models of the HKS. Is it possible that you bought the wrong one accidently?

Since I've replaced the standard bases with pearce grips on my subcompact mags, I use the Superthumb for them.

Both loaders work fine for me but I do prefer the HKS.

I had both and returned the HKS. I thought the mag didnt fit secure enough, and I was worried the thumb lever might break with the last couple rounds. Also, the HKS little finger thing that would push the bullet down, seemed too far forward. I would not actually enough room for the bullet to be held by the lips of the magazine when you released it. I could see how guys can get this to work but the XD Gear one that came with my gun, newest model, is very nice. Much easier to use. One piece, strong and simple to use. Plus it clips on to the XD Gear holster or mag belt holder. My vote goes for the newer XD Loader. Find one.

Ya the 2006 xd mag loader is great. Mine pops back up, and is very easy to use.

It can't pop up due to its design. When you push down the cartridge and insert the next one, the spring is no longer moving anywhere. You need to manually push the loader back up so that it can come into contact with the top of the round you just loaded.
