Big Dot XS Sights
My XD40 5" now wears XS 24/7 big dot sights, and my accurancy beyond 15 feet is in the toilet.
It has been a few months, and I'm pretty solid with my sight picture, but man I just can't get groups beyond 10 yards at all. Any thoughts? Very frustrating. |

The Big Dot sights are designed for quick aquisition at close range. They are not, and have never been "target" sights. The bottom line is that you are not using the right tool for the job you want to do. If you want to shoot at longer ranges, get different sights.

i been thinking about getting the big dots for my xd sub com but i heard they mess up your longer range. but what i really wantto know is if the sub com xd's are the really that accurate after 15 yards like the service and tactical models. but i hope it is real proof not that it has a short barrel so it cant be any better.

Well.. a couple of fellows in the TXDPSA with me use them and seem to have no real accuracy problems.. ask XD_Dan, he uses a SC9 rather well.

I put the big dot sight on my sub compact figuring that if I need the weapon it wil be close range and will want the fast sight picture...if I use the sight at all. Most close range shootings will more than likely be point shooting. But I really like it on the sub compact does the job I want it to do!

At 50 feet I can keep a 2 and a half inch group with my Sub Compact but I did shoot 25 yrd comps for years in the Navy so 50 feet isn't squat. What happened to your orginal sights that came with the gun? The gun shop didn't give them back to you after the work? If they didn't I guess I need to start keeping stuff I take off other customers guns, I always give them back incase something like this happens.

Maybe I'm sighting wrong.. must be operator error.
I'll call XS tomorrow and see what they suggest. |
