Yikes! You'll need some wider legged pants than might be entirely fashionable to accomodate an XD SC. I can put mine in my bootcut jeans, but wouldn't want to try with a slimmer style.
The more I'm finding out about where I can wear the SC, the happier I am. |

I carry my XDS in a Smart Carry: www.smartcarry.com holster.
This holster may or may not be comfortable for you, depending on your size and body shape, but I really like mine a lot. It's very comfortable, especially when sitting down, but you can't wear tight jeans with it, obviously. I got it for wearing in the summertime with big shorts and/or nylon pants, it's perfect for that. In the winter, or anytime I think there is some actual chance of needing it, I wear a IWB which is not as comfy and I can't take my jacket off. You are right, a lot of choices out there. Personally I find fanny pack holsters to be bulky and also sometimes obvious carry devices, but everyone is different. The draw from a Smart Carry is of course slower than a belt holster, but with practice it's fine. T. |

comp-tac ctac
i saw someone mention the ctac earlier and i have to agree with them as being the only way to go. you can tuck your shirt in and no one is the wiser. i carry a full size 1911 in one and no one has ever noticed. and if your worried about the clips giving it away... one word... v-clips. you sew or glue a Velcro strip inside your belt the clip goes over your pants and under your belt and no one has a clue. check it out here is the link. very well made and totally worth it.

Also working in an office environment I understand the challenges of daily carry. My solution was to eventually but a few different guns that can be carried depending upon the situation. I also select trousers carefully and employ a good tailor when needed.
I usually carry a SW 642-pd airweight revo in my pocket. It took a while to learn to shoot it well but it's very easy to carry. I also regularly use an ankle holster. I bought one made by Lou Alessi, it's not cheap but I can comfortable wear it even through a 12-14 hour day. My ankle carry piece is a kahr k9, which is a small gun but a little on the heavy side for a ankle piece. Practice drawing a lot. ALso, IMO, it's a good idea to change up on the carry method once in a while. We spend a lot of time with our co-workers and sooner or later someone is gonig to notice that buldge if it's always there. Changing from pocket to ankle to occasional IWB works for me. Good luck whith what you decide. |

hey... i just got a new maxpedition pouch, the M-5:
http://www.maxpedition.com/product/product_m5.htm I can get my XD 9SC and my bersa .380 in it. (not at the same time) it's a tight fight w/ the pearce grip extension and the zipper occasionally snags. fits like a dream without the extension plus room for other stuff (mags, flashlight, etc). i'm gonna try to post some pics tomorrow. |

It's been a good jacket for me. It conceals a firearm well. I can carry my full sized HS2000 easily undetected but it's a little heavy after a while. These jackets are well made for carrying firearms but they still don't have the support a well made shoulder holster has. I prefer to carry my J-frame in this jacket. I hardly even know it's there. bd |

I have a similar situation -- tech guy who does a lot of time in front of my PC. I have yet to find a CC holster that I can tolerate that truely gives me concealment. So, I have a choice -- no packing for me at work, or carry it in my laptop bag. I'd rather have it here with me in the office than under the seat in my car, so it gets stuffed into a very inconspicuous compartment in the laptop bag. This works very well since the "laptop" bag is perfectly legitimate for my job and no one thinks twice about me carrying it. If I were carrying a seperate bag of some sort, it may be a less clear why I need my "man purse" and would draw suspicion.

that sounds pretty nice, ed...
not to become the maxpedition spokesperson (I SWEAR that i don't work for them or know anybody who does) but they make some pretty sweet laptop/attaches cases: http://www.maxpedition.com/product/catalog_bagcase.htm most or all are compatible w/ their modular velcro holster. this will definitely be my next school/work bag when i save up the $$. |

I know it's a unique situation you guys are in....
...but when you have to go to the bathroom are you going to pack up your laptop carry or briefcase that is holding your firearm and take it with you? bd |
