It was designed for a surefire light. I picked up a couple of the XD Gear light kits when a local shop was closing them out. I think it is a G2. If you go to Springfields site, I bet they have it listed.
The one that came as XD gear uses 123 batteries and has about 60 minutes of battery life. You can get them for around $40. You can get an upgrade reflector and bulb for around $60 that will about double the brightness and adds about 30 minutes to the run time. I do't remember the name of the company that makes the upgrade |

I have a SureFire G2 Nitrolon in my XD Gear flashlight holder. I mount it on my XDm at night for my nightstand.
