I got my Answer from Pistol Gear a few weeks ago, and after wearing it around the house for a while I finally took it out to the range to practice draw ing from concealment. It's fast. It's comfortable. It's my first IWB holster though, so I don't have a lot to compare to.
One thing I did notice was that as my pants sagged during the night, the gun felt a little looser. Retention was still OK, but it never was real "grippy". Maybe as the holster breaks in it gets better. I recently made a modification to it by sawing off a piece of another holster and attaching it between the kydex and leather. The retention is much more aggressive now, and now I'm wondering if my Answer was missing a piece like this to begin with. If anyone's curious, I took some photos and posted them here Dave |

I was going back and fourth answer ,texas hertiage or ctac.
Then like from heaven a ctac got posted in trading post. so I have had since saterday three days I wore it the more I like it.The only bitch is that I still need a shirt to keep it off my skin.So I plan to have a tanned piece of deer hide added to it and the inside is very smooth and has not harmed the finish like my fobus did

Can't Beat Uncle Mike's size 16 for the price. Not a quick draw though!

Well I recieved my Answer sometime ago and have been wearing it off and on and comparing it to a Milt Sparks VM II and an HBE. So far I think the VM II is wining the race so far. Although I carry 3 differrnt guns in the different holsters they are all around 30 ounces in weight and the barrel lengths are around the same.
The HBE is for a CZ 40P and although it is a well made holster I don't think it allows the gun sit low enough and it seems to get a little top heavy as does the Answer with the XD 40. The retention of the Answer comes when you tighten your belt. The one other thing that I don't like about the HBE is that I wear all my holsters at 3:30 and the inside front of this holster sticks me in the hip. The one thing I like about the HBE and the Answer is that they are both rough side out against the clothes which keep the holster in place. With just a T shirt the Milt Sparks slides around some due to smooth leather towards the body. Take it for what it's worth. I have a whole box full of holsters I don't wear and everyones body shape is different, so what works for one doesn't necessarely work for someone else. |

I have three holsters I rotate, The Answer would have solved all the issues, but since I already dropped 100 bucks on holsters, I am resigned to the rotation of the previous.
