Good for him.
Just one question though. Why would you want to register a .22 revolver as a self-defense weapon? The only possible explanation is the extra capacity of the cylinder, but even that makes no sense because you'd need 2-3 shots to do the work of just one .357 magnum round.

Registering a .22 in this case looks more like a symbolic gesture than anything else.
