Mayor of Chicago 'Fights Tooth and Nail' to Keep City's 1982 Handgun Ban

Chicago is fighting tooth and nail to keep its 1982 handgun freeze, in part to protect first-responders, even as suburbs such as Wilmette and Morton Grove are throwing in the towel, Mayor Daley said today. In fact, Daley is talking about drafting yet another ordinance to spell out the responsibilities and liabilities of homeowners in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark decision to... I think it's important to consider the interests of gov't agents when they respond -- to reports of ordinary citizens being murdered, robbed, burglarized, assaulted, etc. Of course Daly makes no mention as to how those citizens are supposed to deal with their attackers as they wait for those all important first responders to arrive.

Placing the interests of gov't agents above the interests of the people shows an attitude of elitism I've never encountered before. Do we protect gov't agents at all costs, rendering everyone else defenseless, thrown to the wolves and thugs roaming Chicago? I guess so, as long as the gov't agents remain a little safer and happier?

If I'm protecting myself then I'm my own D$#M first responder.

He is a joke just like Rev. Jesse Jackson. Always blaming guns and others to make themselves feel like they did something for their communities. They could care less. Honestly I am surprised nobody has tried to assassinate Daley.
