what do you think happened during prohibition. Prohibition is another analogous example of why the war on drugs and gun control are dismal failures

Nope but the way the antis will likely attack their perceived "gun problem" is just make more and more crimes lower grades of felonies until one day a parking ticket will be an F187, but also debar you from owning guns.

By way of example, accidentally carrying a gun in the wrong place might get you a felony (accidentally crossing a state line, or into certain cities/counties, or into federal land/buildings). Possession of hollow point ammo in some places might get you a felony. I vaguely recall in some states accidentally unconcealing can be a felony and I know I read a story about a guy getting arrested and gun seized when the wind blew his jacket open or something along those lines. On it goes. Innocent people caught up in the gov't's web of nonsense.

Violent people likely should not have guns. Having a felony conviction doesn't always make someone a violent peron. I think it's too early to be pressing that issue, but it was bound to come up sooner or later.
