Here's a gun rule we all can agree on. All willing, able bodied persons may carry firearms on their person, for their defense.

Any convicted felon or criminal, that merely gets caught with a firearm, gets their hands cut off at their wrists.

Sounds reasonable.

not to mention they are usually mayors where gun restrictions are already heavily enforced-errrrr, mandated, not necessarily enforced. maybe if they spent more time worrying about the Murder laws that are being broken in record numbers in their respective cities, they would weed out those who break the gun laws...

:shrug?:

if going by these two clowns is any measure - they should rethink their policies.

I have never been to a gun show. Can some of you guys enlighten me on this loophole? I know what they say the problem is but I just can't put together this mental picture of a bunch of felons and would be criminals standing in line to get in to the gun show.

I am sure it happens but really, my impression (once again having never been there) is that most people going to gun shows are spending a lot of money and probably are not the types that are going to then go out and hold up the liquor store.

Am I wrong?

IDK, I see "Gang-Bangers" in the Gun Shows around here ALL THE TIME. They must be there for ammo and accessories, because ALL gun sales in CA. must go through a background check........Unless they're making the deal in the parking lot.

gunshow loophole is a myth/overexaggeration

Quote:
2. Gun shows are responsible for a large number of firearms falling into the hands of criminals.
False. Contrary to President Clinton's claims, there is no "gun show loophole." All commercial arms dealers at gun shows must run background checks, and the only people exempt from them are the small number of non-commercial sellers. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, at most 2 percent of guns used by criminals are purchased at gun shows, and most of those were purchased legally by people who passed background checks.

There is a Gun Show "Loophole" in Our Firearms Laws*

There is no gun show "loophole." Since 1938, any person "engaged in the business of selling firearms" must register with the federal government. In 1968 all such persons were required to obtain a federal firearms license. Since 1998, dealers have been required to submit all prospective gun buyers to a National Instant criminal background Check System (NICS) background check conducted by the FBI or a state agency. This requirement applies at gun shows and all other locations, all of the time.
A person who is not engaged in the business of selling firearms, but who occasionally sells firearms under limited circumstances including "for the enhancement of a personal collection," is not required to obtain the federal license required of gun dealers, or to complete a background check. In 2001, legislation was introduced in Congress to extend the NICS requirement to non-dealer sales of firearms at gun shows. That legislation was defeated, however, because Members of Congress who support the anti-gun lobby's agenda would only accept a much more restrictive bill.

SEE!...It's not a "Gun-Show Loophole".........It's a "Private-Sale Loophole".

I wonder WHAT PERCENT of "Ocasional sellers" selling a gun from ANYWHERE (home, face-to-face, out of the trunk of a car), sell a Firearm to a Criminal?

Remind me again WHY people should be able to sell a gun to someone without checking to see if they are a CRIMINAL or not? I still don't get it!

Also, -for those here in favor of Unchecked private firearm sales....
What do you think should happen if you sell a firearm without doing a background check to a criminal who uses it in a crime?

I still think I came up with the Best solution:

Background Checks for Firearm sales & Transfers should be INSTANT & FREE.

Unlicensed occasional sellers should be able to choose whether or not to run the person they are selling to through a backgound check.

....But, IF YOU DECIDE NOT TO RUN A FREE BACKGROUND CHECK, and it can be PROVEN that the person you sold to was barred from legally owning a Firearm (at the time of sales) -It should be a FELONY and Minimun of 2 Years in jail for Each firearm sold.

I think that's Fair, and theres no reason why the Pro-Gun side shouldn't "Control" the Anti's argument, and draft a law like this.

Here's the thing: I never voted for ANY of these mayors. That's ZERO out of fifteen people who think they have authority over me but don't.

If I didn't get to vote for them, they can go to hell.

I was able to vote for Orem City's mayor. And he helps fund a local gun range. So there!

I think we can agree that there are a bunch of mayors who need to be sent packing next election!

Agree, in fact as I recall Bloomberg is out unless he can get the law in NY city changed for term limits.

Problem is that the citizens of NY City will elect his clone
